Family: Chattanooga philanthropist, Capital Toyota founder Bob McKamey dies - WTVC
Jan 15, 2019UPDATE:Funeral arrangements have been announced for Bob McKamey.According to Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Service, the funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. , Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Graceworks Church, 6445 Lee Highway with Dr. Bill Owens and Rev. Wayne Peters officiating, The eulogy will be delivered by Roy Exum.Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Donnie Hutchinson, Mark Schmissrauter, Ed Emerson, Jim Hammond, Mike Yarbrough and Ron Littlefield serving as pallbearers.Memorial contributions may be made to the McKamey Animal Center, 4500 North Access Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37416The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 am until 12:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.PREVIOUSLY:Longtime philanthropist and founder of Chattanooga Capital Toyota Bob McKamey has passed away, his family confirmed on social media Tuesday.According to Capital Toyota, McKamey opened the business here in Chattanooga more than 50 years ago.General sales manager Edward Emerson says McKamey treated his employees like family.He was also well known for his love of animals.A decade ago he gave a million dollars to help build the McKamey Animal Center.Emerson says McKamey was also a big contributor to the March of Dimes.He says McKamey really cared about Chattanooga and the people who lived here."He loved people and he believed in giving people a second chance he was not a judgmental person," said Emerson. "Loved by everybody and he's definitely going to be missed.""Dad was a kind, giving, compassionate man who gave so much to so many," his son Jeff McKamey shared on Facebook, "We lost a great man today, but Heaven welcomes a great man home today."Funeral arrangements for McKamey have not yet been announced.Depend on us to update our story as we learn more.
